News Just In

Just a quick note to let members know some results from the Curragh today. In the under 15 girls race Alison Armstrong ran a great race to finish in 15th position. Aoife Corr and Ellen Byrne ran great races to finish 28th and 30th and all 3 girls made the scoring team for Dublin in the Inter County and Inter Provincial team races. In the under 15 boys race Pierre was straight in to the leading bunch from early on and going into the big lap about half way was among the top three who had pulled away from the rest of the field. Club members and supporters were running wildly to every corner of the course to cheer Pierre on. These 3 fought a huge battle over the big lap and with 600m to go were locked together with any one of the three looking capable of winning. With 200m to go the Sligo athlete McBride and Gibbons from Letterkenny(last years winner) pulled away and Pierre finished a fantastic 3rd in a tough and exciting race .   Pierre also led the Dublin team to gold medals in the Inter County team race. In the girls under 17yrs, Cliona Carthy ran a fine race to finish 22nd and was a scoring member on the gold medal winning Dublin team in the Inter County and Inter Provincial event. In the girls under 19 race Heather Lougheed glided through the field to finish a brilliant 5th in her best ever cross-country result at Nationals. Olwyn kennedy finished a very fine 23rd in her best ever result by a huge margin in a National Cross-Country. Sinead Cronin ran in the women’s novice race and at time of printing we have not seen the results. See also ‘Recent Photos’

Competition

Our last Competition for 2011 will be on Sunday next in the Curragh with the Uneven age groups All –Irelands  and the National Novice Championships.

Anyone travelling to the Curragh is to meet at the Breffini Inn Carpark at 9.45 and we will set off as soon after as possible.

Training 

This week most of the schools are closed on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th of December.  We will have training on Thursday morning at 11a.m- meeting at the Hole in the Wall.  The St Dominics Hall group will have training at 11a.m  as well in the Hall. There will be NO evening  training for smallies on Thursday. The 3^rd level group will organise amongst themselves for training on Thursday evening.

Thur 8^th Dec:- 11am Hole in the Wall;  Dermot and Brians group- St Dominics at 11

 Sat 10^th Dec:- Hole in the Wall group to Santry to start at 10.30 sharp.

Sun 11^th Dec:- Curragh All-Irelands, see note above.

Sun 11^th Dec:- Hole in the Wall at 11 for everyone else.

Tue. 13th and Thur. 15th Dec:- As usual 7pm at the Hut at the back of the Church and in Dominic’s Hall.

Sat 17^th Dec:- Hole in the Wall gang plus  all Dermot and Brians group out to Santry for 10.30 sharp, hammer workshop for beginners in Santry at 11.30.

Sun 18^th Dec:- Hole in the Wall, everyone, 11am.

Tue. 20th and Thurs. 22nd Dec.:-As usual 7pm at the hut at the back of the church and Dominic’s Hall

New- Sat 24^th Dec:- Senior Sprinters meet at Hole in the Wall at 10.30 to go to ‘sprint hills’ at the usual location.

Sunday 25^th Dec:- Usual Christmas Day trot meet at the Hole in the Wall at 9.30 a.m

Mon 26^th Dec:– Usual St Stephens Day walk with the Dogs, feed the ducks  and picnic after at the Hole in the Wall. Meet at 11.30am

 Week off !! hurrah. All Meet again Tuesday 3^rd January at 11am at the Hole in the Wall.
