National Senior News from Athlone

Well done to Steffi Creaner who won a silver medal in the 200m at the Nationals at the weekend. Our only other competitor was Niamh Donnelly in the 1500m where she equalled her previous best time. Highlight will be shown on RTE tonite (mon) at 8pm.

Dublin champs Day 3

We had a small group at the sprints in Santry today. Sophie English was our star of the day coming 2nd in the 60m for under 12 girls. Chloe Corcoran made the final of the under 13 event and finished 4th. A great run on her first championship outing. Alison Burke finished 5th in her 60m final despite being unwell on the day and James Scanlon did great to come 3rd in the under 15 boys 60m. Well done to all on a very long day.

Results from Dublin champs day 2

On day 2 of the Dublins we had 200m and middle distance events in Santry today. Alex Corr and Keelan Gogarty ran really well in the under 10 girls race, Tom Brennan ran in the under 11 boys and will have learned a lot form the race. Caoimhe Bresnan and Ada Vasic qualified very well for the 600m under 12 final next Sunday, Dora and Ella Mae also qualified for the finals next Sunday. Shane Carmody found the pace a bit fast in the 200m under 18. in the under 15 boys 800m Dara Finn was having his first outing for the club and he finished a fine 3rd, Dylan and Eoin ran very well in the 800m under 17 coming first and 4th. Ellen found the 800m very tough under 16, Cliona Carthy and Cliona Murphy finished 1st and 2nd running very well in the under 18 800m. Danny is recovering from a virus and was very tired in the under 19 boys 800m.

Not so good news from the 60m sprint heats in Athlone with Catherine doing a false start and being disqualified. At time of writing we have no results from the 200m heats with Steffi in action. update later
