Sean is all Ireland schools minor boys champion!
Well done to Sean Donoghue who became the first boy from the club to win an Irish schools title when he won the minor boys race in Sligo today. He had been an impressive winner of the Leinster title three weeks ago but had been floored by a bad head cold for the following week. With plenty of rest and light training for the past week he recovered well and even though it was tough out there today he ran a great race , sat back for the first kilometer and then gradually made his way to the front to pull away for a great win. A brilliant achievement for Sean and proud day for his mam, dad, brother and especially his grandad who never misses a race. St Declans college should be very proud of this young man who is following in the footsteps of another Declans man Pierre who ran a great race to finish 5th over 8k in the men’s intervarsity race, his first time over that distance.
Cliona Murphy ran really well in the women’s intervarsity finishing 17th and Alison Armstrong came 19th in the senior girls schools race. Chloe Corcoran ran in the junior girls race and as a sprinter found the distance a bit tough.
Cross country season officially finished today😊
