A windy Tymon Park was the venue for the final Juvenile XC League of the 2024 season and Celtic were well represented today. Here are some of the highlights.
U9 Boys Alfie Sheridan – in his first ever race, did himself and the club proud, ran in smiling.
U10 Boys Stanley Harrold – competed in all 3 league races this season. Well done Stanley! Paddy Casey was also in his first race ever and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
U10 Girls Emily McCluskey and Ava Mannix joined forces in this packed race and ran brilliantly.
U11 Boys Lucas Lennon was our lone ranger in this race, another first timer and he did so well to gain ground after a near fall on the starting line!
U12 Girls Cara Maguire, Ellie Mannix, Rachel Raftery, Ide Casey and Aoibhinn Colclough. Brought home by Cara leading the way, closely followed by Ellie. We have great strength in this age group, well done girls.
U13 Girls Ellen Fisher and Juliette Delaney both had a solid race in this talented age group. Juliette competed in all 3 leagues this season and has done the club proud.
U14 Girls Amelia Carmody, Emma Dempsey, Lelia Ryan, Freya Dillon, Maria McCurdy Lasa, Lauren O’Leary were brought home in style by Freya closely followed by the rest of the team. Great finishing by everyone in this race, all fighting right to the line. All the girls demonstrated great commitment in competing in 2-3 leagues this season.
U14 Boys Eoin Marron finished off the XC season strongly, running a competitive race in his second league performance this year.
U15 Girls Caroline Monks, Pearl O’Brien, Saoirse Rogers represented this age group today and were brought home by Pearl, closely followed by Saorise and Caroline. Great running, girls!
U15 Boys Daire McGeown took his 3rd league race in his stride today, having a very confident run.
The U16 and U17 Girls ran together and were led home by Sara Mari Rodriguez, Erin Byrne and Aoibhinn Byrne with Megan O’Leary, Lama Elghobashy and Abigail Delaney very close behind in a competitive race, given the 2 age groups.
Last but not least our U16 Boys were represented by Sam Alcock and Dan O’Leary. They ran confidently today demonstrating a growth in experience over the season.
Thank you to all of the parents for lifts, supporting in the warm-ups, getting numbers organised and encouraging all the club athletes as they took part today. That’s the end of the Juvenile XC leagues for the season – congratulations to everyone who took part, not just today, but for all of the leagues earlier in the season. Here’s to the indoors!
