Updates from DCH Senior Athletes

What a week for DCH milers! And what a week for Philip!

Never in the history of the club can we boast of THREE current club members all racing a sub 4 minute mile in the same week, and nearly all in the same race!

While Ronan & Sean have already achieved the iconic Sub 4 status, Philip lined up at the Cork City Sports on Wednesday night as the nearly man – with a best of 4.00.01. Cork was Philip’s long awaited night, he raced smartly and patiently early on, and delivered down the home straight to a new 3.57.88 PB. Congrats Philip – welcome to the DCH Sub 4 Club!

Ronan, just over from the US a few days prior, ran 3.58.64 and Sean just missed out with 4.01.61. However, Sean did not have to wait long to rectify his racing tactics and within 48 hours at the Morton mile, Sean galloped home with 3.55.82, just outside his PB. Well done lads – 3 times under 4 minutes in 48 hours!

Earlier this evening at the 36th International Lignano Sabbiadoro meeting in Italy, Sean continued his good form with a new 1500m PB of 3.38.75, followed closely by Ronan in 3.38.92 – great racing lads!!!

We wish Ailish the “Best of Luck” on her international debut in Bergen, Norway during the week, at the European U23 T&F championships – where Ailish races the 3000m steeplechase heats this coming Thursday! Silje will be the club representative on the ground in Norway – the Bergen track is her home track and she will be working for Organising committee at the championships!

Over in the UK, Niamh C impressively won the B 1500m race (by over 3 secs) at the BMC Watford meeting with a superb new PB time 4.19.10 – awesome racing, with more to come! Niamh is now back racing close to her 2022 best season when she raced new PB’s over 800m, 1500m & mile! Just the 800m & mile to go, now!

Down in Tullamore at the U19 National T&F championships, Isaiah raced a new 1500m PB of 4.26.24 – well done Isaiah!

Well done all!

Results update

On the final day of the National juvenile championships our under 16 relay team came 3rd in their heat and 10th overall over the 3 heats of their competition. Well done to Maisy, Pearl , Saoirse and Jessica. They didn’t have the ideal preparation as the lead up clashed with their Gaeltacht trip but did well considering! Better calendar watching next year. 🤞

Well done Lucas!

News in from Tullamore on a fabulous run from Lucas Cahill in the National under 14 1500m. Lucas ran a well paced race in 29 degrees, worked his way through the field and finished strongly in a 12 second pb running 4mins 32secs and was 6th overall! Fantastic run in his first National and first Dublin athlete to finish ! Well done too to Isiah in the under 19 race finishing just inside his pb.

Great experience for both lads today .
