DUBLIN ROAD NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIPS

No shopping at the Square, Tallaght for us today despite the festive season, we had the more serious business of competing in the Dublin Road Race Championships.

This was a beautiful day for racing and unusually not a puff of wind at the foot of the Dublin mountains. The championship was held in conjunction with the annual Tallaght 5Km therefore a field of some 500 runners toed the line. The course was essentially a circuit of the Greenhills Road/Tymon Park area meaning there was a good drag on the last kilometer.Ellen/Silje and Christelle (making her DCH debut) were prominent from early backed up with excellent packing by Aoife/Fiona and Abbey. Ellen having an inspired run worked hard all the way and was rewarded with first place and personal best leading our team home to victory. Christelle was first junior home and picked up a nice prize. There was an issue over some results (ineligible athletes) which was more or less resolved at the time of leaving but it meant were working off provisional team results initially. Full details will follow when final results are made available. We are in with a shout for a team prize in the open race category and this should be known later today.
In the meantime the first draft results are posted on the POP UP Races website here.
