Results from Irishtown

Our under 14 and 15 800m runners were in action in a very wet Irishtown this morning. Goda, Aimee Ryan and Erin qualified for the finals. Well done to first timers Aoife Marron, Caoimhe Feeney and Nina. Aoibhinn,Jocelyn, Aoibhinn, Lily, Meave and Ciaran who all competed very well.

Martha Fisher competed in the under 13 hurdles and did very well qualifying for the final where she finished a very creditable 5th.

In the afternoon the 800m finals got underway shortly after 3pm. Goda ran a great race finishing 2nd in a great new pb of 2.23.99. Aimee and Erin both ran great. In the under 16 boys race Oisin was in contention for a medal until the last 50m but he gave it everything and should be proud of his 4 th place. Eva Corcoran ran strongly in her first 800m, Cliodhna Ryan had nothing left after a great run finishing 5th in her 800. We had 4 athletes In the girls under 18 race and Clare o Connor finished a fine 3rd with Jana storming home in 4th place. Aisling Keenan finished well and Abbie went off a little too fast and unfortunately didn’t finish. Christopher had a solid race in the under 18 boys race. Well done to everyone.
Official results will be posted later.

Mary says thank you!

On the eve on what would have been my Mams 91st birthday I want to say a big thank you to everyone who sympathised with me on mams recent death, to those I met personally, those who phoned and sent texts, to those who sent mass and sympathy cards and left messages on RIP.ie. Your support is very much appreciated. Mary

Catherine wins 2nd bronze medal

After two tough 400m races on Friday and Saturday Catherine was off out early to Santry for the 200m heats at 11am. She duly won heat 3 in a new personal best breaking 24 secs for the first time running 23.83!!The final was a cracking race and Catherine finished a brilliant 3rd in a great new time but the wind was just marginally above the limit allowed for records. Such a shame as nearly every one would have got personal bests had the wind been legal. Well done Catherine on a very successful weekend. We are all proud of you.
