Well done to two Celticdch graduates who ran great new pbs this weekend. One Friday night at the Morton games in Santry Pierre knocked 12 seconds off his 5k time dipping under 14 mins for the first time in not great conditions. Conditions didn’t improve much this afternoon in Santry but that didn’t stop Cliona running a pb in the National Senior 10k on the track. Fantastic running from both athletes and well deserved.

Last Wednesday at the graded meeting in Dundrum Lily Farrell ran a very good 800m race , chipping yet another bit off her pb. Clare went off a bit too slow and had too much to make up on the 2nd lap.

This weekend we had athletes competing at the national juveniles in Tullamore.
Martha was a bit rusty in her hurdles as she was away for two weeks but she did well to get through her heat without any problems. Alice had a better sequence of jumps in the long jump than her last two outings. Goda was in one of the many very competitive 800m races this weekend and found the pace very tough.

On Sunday we had our under 14 and 16 relay teams in action. The standard is always very high in these relays and no exceptions this weekend.
The under 14 team ran really well in their first national but narrowly missed out on a final spot. Well done to Pearl, Saoirse, Maisy and Jessica.

The under 16 team qualified for the final of their event but the mother of all thunderstorms put a stop to everything just as they were getting ready to head out to the track. After half an hour of biblical rain, thunder and lightning the races started again. Despite being frozen and wet the girls ran really well in a very tough final. Well done to Martha, Alice, Jocelyn and Aimee. All the girls got a great experience today and for different reasons it was a day to remember for all of us!
Thank you to all the parents who brought and supported all the young athletes today.
