League 3 update

Our young athletes had their first experience of competing on a snow covered cross country course today in Tymon park. The white surroundings certainly lifted the spirits and the performances. Great running by Evie, Cara and Ellie (under 10 girls ) got the day under way for us in fine style, followed immediately with great running from Senan, Edward and Canice in the boys race.
In the under 11 races Rion, Matthew, Max and Sean ran strongly.

Amelia and Lelia were very competitive in the under 12 girls race, Pearl, Jessica, Maggie, Saoirse, Freya, Caroline and Daire were all prominent in the under 13 races.
Ella, Abigail and Hugh battled well in the under 14 races, Goda, Erin and Aimee ran well under 15, lily, Cliodhna and Christopher rounded off out snowy day out in style in the older age groups.

Our senior womens team of Sorcha, Aoife, Edel and Orla ran their hearts out in the intermediate womens 5k and won the team event with Sorcha finishing 1st overall.

Thank you to the parents who brought and supported all the children today. Thanks also to those who helped with the numbers and the officiating.

DCH Weekend Results Roundup

A busy weekend on all fronts for plenty of our athletes competing at the European XC championships in Turin and the Dublin Intermediate in Tymon.

Fiona was our first athlete in action in Turin and moved through the field on the last lap to finish 35th overall and the 2nd finisher on the Irish team, which finished 8th overall. This was Fiona debut in an Irish singlet – the first of many, we hope! Luke and Nadia were next in action in the mixed relay with the Irish team finishing 9th overall, in a very competitive race! Jodie placed 54th overall and 4th Irish finisher in the U23 team where the Irish team placed 7th while Pierre on his International Senior debut placed 67th overall on the Irish Men’s team which finished 8th. It was a great championship for Ireland winning no less than 5 medals at this edition of the European XC championships.

Closer to home, our Intermediate ladies squad completed the 9 from 9 team titles in the 2022 XC season with team victories NOW at the Dublin, Leinster and National Novice, Intermediate and Senior championships – what an achievement for the club! Sorcha led the team home with individual success, followed by Aoife in 7th, Edel in 13th and Orla 16th – 3 points clear of Liffey Valley in the team race.

And down in Cork at the Duhallow Newmarket 5K, Edel placed 2nd in the Ladies race with 16.49.

Last weekend’s oversight were the results from the Saturday morning Donore Harriers Jingle Bells 5K in the Park. First home for the club was Cliona M in 16.30, followed by Edel M in 16.43, Aoife Ni Bbroin in 18.15 (new PB), Edel McNamara in 19.52 and Abbey Corr with 23.05.

Training for this week will take on a major down week for many of our athletes after a hectic XC season with next Saturday’s Annual Christmas Cake race to look forward to. This normally takes the format of a handicap! We will forward more details later in the week. Keep an eye on club email for this weeks training details.
