Martha Fisher had a busy day on Wednesday in NIA competing in the Leinster schools combined events. She competed in the long jump, 60m hurdles, shot, high jump and 800m. This was her first time to do a pentathlon and she did well to finish 10th overall out of 40 entries. Well done Martha!

We won’t know what to do when we get a real cross country day in the future, we have been so spoiled so far this winter. Beautiful sunshine, no wind and dry underfoot. What’s not to like?
Our young athletes did like with the under 12 girls starting off our day. Three of the girls are under 11 but that didn’t stop them, Juliette led them in followed by Evie, Ellen , Cara and Ellie. Very good races today by all the team over the 2k distance.
The girls and boys under 14 were next off over 3k. Jessica was first in a fine 8th place, followed by Pearl, Maggie, a much improved Saoirse and Caroline, Emma whos under 13 and in her first season with us, Freya and Maisy. Tom and Daire did their best in the boys race 3k.
Star team of the day was our under 16 girls led in by Goda in 5th place, backed up with really brave running over 4K by Erin, Aoibhinn, Megan and Abigail to win the team gold! Fantastic running by all the girls!
The boys under 11 ran in the relay and did their best despite lacking a bit of training. The under 13 girls team of Freya Dillon , Amelia, Lauren and Lelia had a great team effort finishing 7th overall in their race. The girls gave it everything and were delighted with their result.
Thank you to all the parents who brought the teams out and supported today.
Next competition will be the uneven age groups Dublin championship on 5th November in Santry. Championship distances are challenging so only those who train regularly will be entered.

League 2
A strange experience running cross country in such warm conditions today in Tymon Park. Admittedly it was pleasant to be able to sit down on dry surfaces and not have to dash home straight after competing. Rachel got us under way in her second competition ever in the under 9 race and definitely improved in confidence this time round. In the under 11 race Evie, Cara, Ellie, Aisling and Amy all ran well.
In the under 12 races Juliette and Ellen ran well.
Amelia had a much better run this time round , with Freya, Lelia and Emma all running impressively. Eoin and Conor had good runs in the boys race.
Jessica,Maggie, Caroline, Maisy and Freya are looking like a nice under 14 squad, Daire and Tom did well in a tough boys under 14 race.
Megan, Abigail and Hugh ran well under 15, as did Erin and Aoibhinn under 16. Lily was our Lone Ranger under 17 and she too was much stronger this time out.
Well done to everyone who represented the club today. Thank you to the parents who brought the children and supported.
The novice women and men raced from 2pm and we were delighted that Clare ( first year novice) made a huge contribution to our winning women’s team. Christopher, Conor and Joe were on the men’s team which finished 3rd. The lads didn’t make the scoring four this year but have something to work towards for next year.
