We didn’t have to travel far to compete in the Leinster Intermediate Cross Country Championships today. Dunboyne hosted these championships at the aptly named Cow Park venue. This is a deceptively tough course, with” tufty” grass, a number of switchback turns and gradual elevations.None of this deterred our five woman team who set out determined to annex the second leg of the three intermediate titles available. Edel was to the fore early in the race and had a decent lead by the end of the first of two 2Km laps. Silje and Alison working together soon established themselves within the top six followed closely by Aislinn. Sinead made a more conservative start but was well within the top twenty. On the second lap Edel (14.23) moved further and further ahead while Alison and Silje diced it out in search of third place. They changed position several times but Silje(14.41) eventually winning out with a very fast finish leaving Alison(14.46) to finish fourth. Aislinn(15.22) had an excellent and despite coming under pressure held on for ninth. Sinead(15.38) finished 15th, which would have scored on any other club or county team but unfortunately not DCH.Edel, Silje, Alison and Aislinn combined to score a very low 17 points giving DCH the team victory, and the same quartet delivered the county team medals to Dublin. Two legs now up with the Nationals in Castlelyons, Cork on February 13th to come
