Nationals day 1 update

Pierre got the day under way for our senior athletes in the 3000m heats. He ran a solid race and looked comfortable as he qualified for the final tomorrow. Next up was Catherine who qualified for the 200m final. Jodie McCann had a strong run in the women’s 3k, in the 800m heats Nadia and Susie McManus both qualified for tomorrows final.

Next , Catherine was back on track for her 200m final and finished a fantastic 3rd running her best time in two years! Great running Cat!!! Meanwhile her big sister Susie qualified for the 1500m final with Aoife running a PB and Edel Monaghan just a little bit behind in the heats.
In the men’s 1500m heats Sean Donoghue qualified in heat one with Daire Finn getting through from heat 2.

Never known to be easy on herself Catherine mc Manus fought very hard in her 400m heat and bagged a spot in tomorrow’s final. Great day of athletics and makes us all appreciate the great facilities we have in Abbottstown.
