League 2 took place in Santry and we had a good number of athletes in action most of whom competed well in league 1 the previous weekend. First up this weekend were Aoife and Niamh who both made the 100m final under 14. Oisin had a great race in his 100 coming first and then went on to come 2nd in his 800m later on. Pearl was a very good 3rd in her 500 with Jessica also running well. Alice and Martha ran in the 80m under 11 with Martha the overall winner. Bruce had a great run in his 80m coming 3rd and Aimee Ryan came 3rd in her 80m final under 12.Hugh showed great improvement coming 4th in his 600m final with Bruce just behind in 5th. Martha , Abigail and Alice all finished close together in the top 10 in their 600m. In the under 12 6oom Erin and Aoibhinn were having their first outing on the outdoor track and will learn from the experience with the two Aimees all having good runs. Lily and Shona battled well in their 600m, Aoife and Niamh ran in the 800m under 14, Hazel and Cliodhna in the under 15 800m , Christopher and Joseph in the 800m under 16, Clare won the 800m under16 girls with Keelin 2nd. National road relay report
We had an amazing 3 women’s teams and our first men’s team in action in many years at the National road relays in Raheny last Sunday. Most of our athletes have been with our junior club since they were in primary school and it’s great to see them in action now as seniors. Lots of bumps and disappointments along the way with injuries, illnesses and exams but the resilience learned from all the above has brought them through to the seniors they are today. Great credit due to all these fine young people and their families for their support.Cliona Murphy led off our A women’s team and ran a cracking mile leg handing over in 2nd place to Jody McCann. Jody ran a brilliant 2 mile lap and handed over in the lead to Susan who brought the team home in 2nd place overall. Cliona and Jody were 2nd fastest overall on the day for one mile and two mile legs. Our other two teams fought very well with Aoife ni Bhroin, Aislinn Moorehouse, Edel Monaghan, Aoife Corr, Niamh Donnelly and Clare Brennan. Great to see some old faces back racing. Keep it up!!
Our lads team was led off by Daire who ran strongly handing over to Sean in 7th place. Despite being the youngest competitor on the day Sean managed to get up to 6th place on his mile leg. Pierre took over and ran a very good 3 mile leg mostly on his own which was very hard and handed over to Luke who was also on his own for his two lap but ran great to hold on well to 6th place. Great days racing in Raheny and well to everyone.
