Clonliffe schools Cross country

Club athletes were representing several schools at a very rainy Santry today for the Clonliffe schools cross country races. In the Primary schools girls race we had a gang representing MHOC with Anna Petit leading her team of Alex, Antonio, Sara Byrne and Keelan to team gold. Kacey Tully ran well in the girls race for St Catherines. In the boys race Sean Donoghue ran a cracking race to win the overall event and led his team from St John Bosco which included Scott Couch to second place.

In the minor girls race Ella Mae Cromie, running for Mount Temple ran a very smart race to win the overall event. Chloe Corcoran was 2nd in the minor race and led her team from Mt Sackville to first place.  The St Dominics team were 2nd overall with Caoimhe Bresnan and Eimer Murphy from the club on their team. In the junior race Katie Hanna, Emily Corcoran and Emily Murphy all ran well but the team were outside the medals on this occasion.

In the inter boys race Daire Finn ran for St Declans and finished 5th and Ben Quinn was 14th for Belvedere. The senior girls race was dominated by Cliona Murphy (St Dominics) and Alison Armstrong from Coolmine CC with Alison just pipping Cliona in the home straight. Cliona led her team to gold medals with great running from Aoife Corr and Ellen Byrne.

The final race of the day was the senior boys and Pierre Murchan won this in fine style running for St Declans. Christopher Clarke also from Declans was 29th. Well done to all on what was a tough day for spectators. Thanks to all the parents who supported the athletes.
