Competitions are coming thick and fast these Days! Last Wednesday night in Tallaght our big kids were in action in graded meeting number 2. Catherine McManus got the ball rolling with a win in the 200m. Aoife Ni Bhroin came 4th in her 200m. In the 1500m Niamh Donnelly won her race and Cliona Murphy ran a very good time in the same race. Aislinn Moorehouse ran a good race winning the B 1500m for women. Christopher and Annraoi ran in the mens 1500m and will learn from the experience.

Leinster Schools day 2
On Saturday we had Pierre in the Senior boys 800m where he finished 5th in a very competitive race close to his personal best time. An hour later he lined up in the senior 1500m where he was once again up against a very strong field. The race was tactical, practically jogging for the first half and then got into a real dogfight for the last lap. Pierre was 4th with 200m to go but never gave up the fight and was rewarded with a bronze medal. Cliona Murphy was next into action in the senior girls 1500m and ran a very smart race, covering all the moves and ended up in a fine 3rd place with a new personal best of 4min49secs. Well deserved!

Meanwhile in Tallaght our little people were having a busy day. In the 200m the under 11 girls gang of Antonio, Antoninette, Julieanne, Keelan and Alex all ran well. Clare Murphy was very strong in her race and others to impress were Chloe, Emily and Emily, Dora, Ella Mae, Finn, Alison Burke and Caoimhe. Well done to all and if we have ommitted anyone please accept our apologies.

At the D7ET 5K and 7k races in the Park on Sunday Ella Mae won the girls race and Oscar Moloney Daly won the boys event. Great stuff!

Caoimhe Lynam found the going tough in the junior girls 800m and Finn Burke Power had a nasty fall in his 800m just meters from the finish line.

followed by under 10/11/12/13 200m on times

followed at 12.45 by 1500m under 14/15/16 ( could be earlier or later )

11am Long jump for under 11/15/14 in that order
11am high jump under 12 girls, undeer 12 boys , under 15/15 boys and girls in that order

11am discus under 15/16 boys and girls

11am shot putt under 14 girls and boys

11am Javelin under 13 boys and girls

11.30 turbo javelin under 10 boys and girls

There is something here for everyone. Dont be afraid to try things. You never know what you will find out about yourself! Enjoy.

Great news today! We have confirmation that Pierre has been selected for the Irish team for the European Youth Olympic Trials. He will be flying out to Baku in Azerbaijan( get the maps out) on the 28th May for a week. Hurrah!

We had athletes in action in Tallaght today with the younger kids leagues and in Greystones for the Irish Milers club meeting. Tallaght got the the best of the weather and we had a fine turnout despite matches and confirmation. Nice to see the experience of a few races paying off especially for Ella Mae, Sean, Dora and Caoimhe. Well done to all. Once again thanks to the parents for bringing the athletes to the competitions. In Greystones the weather was a story on its own with heavy showers rolling in over the Wicklow mountains driven by blustery winds. We had Catherine Mc Manus battling to a win in the 100m and a good 2nd in the 200m in a strong minus wind. Our star of the day was Pierre who knocked 8 secs from his personal best in the 3000m, running 8mins 38secs and achieved the qualifying time for the European Youth Olympics in Baku at the end of this month. Achieving the time does not guarantee selection so we will have to wait and see what happens next week when the selectors have their meeting. Great run in not so nice conditions!
