Training/Competition Plan for Week Beginning Sat 5th April

Sat 5th April Hole in the Wall everyone not running in the Great Ireland Run

Sun 6th April No training. Great Ireland run today in the Phoenix Park. If any of the juniors still want to enter you can still do so in Lifestyle Blanchardstown Friday and Saturday. On Sunday everyone is come to Marys car which will be in the usual place at the tented area at 10.30. Bring rain gear and sambos as it will be a long day.Rain bottoms would be great if you have them. Travel by bike if you have one.

Some stewarding positions have been allocated already. We need as many people as possible to come out on Sunday to do the waterstation and finish area. Nobody will be left without a job to do. This is our big fundraiser and enables us to keep membership fees at a low level for our members.

We need all the athletes to wear club hoodies and make sure you have your name clearly marked on it. See you all on Sunday.

Plans for the remainder of the week will be loaded on Monday:)

Great Ireland Run Sunday April 6th Phoenix Park

Any of the younger club members who want to run in the Junior races next Sunday can enter in Lifestyle in Blanchardstown next Saturday. They will also be taking entries there on Friday afternoon.

Reminder to all parents, we will need everyone who is available to help out with the stewarding of the race, Water station and Finish area. Many hands make light work!

Celtic Athletic Club

We had a big group of athletes competing in Santry last weekend. Great to see all the young talent in the club coming through. Nice running from Clare, Conor, Gillian and Emily Murphy, Sean Cunningham, Katie Harrold, Katie Hanna and Ella Mae Cromine in particular. This week we move back to the Phoenix Park for training. See details on www.celticdch.com

Races in Santry

We had a huge turnout of athletes this morning in Santry. Thank you to all the parents who brought their children out and supported them. It makes the coaches jobs so worthwhile!. These types of races builds confidence in the young athletes and helps take away the fear factor. It would be hard to find a better mothers day present than being able to watch your healthy child running in a race no matter where they finish. Good times;)

Death of Joe Scanlon RIP

We received the sad news on Friday of the death of Joe, Father of our club member James( under 16). Joe had been ill since September and despitethe best efforts of the doctors in the Mater hospital his condition did not improve. A month age Joe was told that the future was looking grim and yet he battled on in his typical good humoured way. On Wednesday last his situation took a turn for the worse and Joe slipped away from his family on Friday. We extend our sympathy to Joyce his wife and his three children Jessica, Laura and James on their great loss. Removal to Navan Rd church will be on Monday next arriving at 5.30. Funeral Mass will be 10 o clock on Tuesday morning. Club members who are going to the funeral on Tuesday are to meet at the traffic light opposite the church at 9.40 on Tuesday. Wear club Hoodies.
