Our under 12 girls and under 14 team ( listed on earlier post) have their final two sessions this week before the race at the weekend. Its very important not to miss these sessions especially since some of the team members were not at training at the weekend. The races start in Santry next Sunday at 11.30 with the under 12 girls. We will need to be out there at 10.15 at the latest to get parking as there will be a huge crowd there. Anyone who needs to get spikes from the bag needs to come to Marys house on Sat or during the week to pick them up as the bag will not be brought out on Sunday.
Best of luck everyone

Dublin Even Age Cross Country Championships
We had a hectic day at the even age cross country championships in a very sunny St Annes Park today. First off were our under 10 girls with a strong squad from Celtic in action. Antoinette led the girls in 2nd place, with Keelin Gogarty 4th, Alex 11th, Antonio 13th, Keelin Collins 16th(up an age group), Leah 22nd (up an age group), Julianne 33rd, Clare O Connor 35th and Amy Hanna 54. The girls were delighted to hear they had won the team race and will get their medals at training on Thursday night.
In the under 10 boys Felix came 12th (up an age group) and Issac finished 38th.
The under 12 girls were off next and Caoimhe Bresnan had a great run to lead her team finishing 5th overall over a tough 2 k course and led her team to silver medals and qualification for Nationals. Caoimhe was followed in by Anna Petit in 8th place, Gillian Murphy in 14th and Kate Harrold in 26th both running up an age group, Ada in 27th, and Aobh Collins 41 will complete the team to run in Santry on Nov 17th. Sara Byrne 43rd, Sophie English 44th and Celine Gavin 45th completed the team who ran today.
In the boys under 14 race Billy and Oliver were both running up an age group and both did very well against much bigger boys.
Next up were our under 14 girls team who were down our best two runners but what a run by Chloe in 8th place, Emily in 14th, Katie Hanna in 18th,Dora who hurt her knee and didnt run all week in 18th place and Abbey in 38th. The girls finished 3rd team over 3km and against the odds qualified for the Nationals!
Our girls under 16 had 4k to run and with brave running all round from Aoife, Ellen, Caoimhe and Sara Jane they finished 3rd team.
In the boys race we were two lads down and didnt have a team. Annraoi ran really well, Evan did fine for his first ever race and Michael battled all the way to the end despite having a stitch from half way.
In the girls under 18 and combined junior womens race Clare Brennan had a great race to finish 2nd leading her team of Alison Armstrong, Cliona Murphy and Eva Redmond to 3rd place.
Pierre had a very fine run in the combined junior men and under 18 race finishing 2nd overall in a very tough 6k race. The winner ( an under 20 athlete) pulled away early leaving a bunch of 6 or 7 athletes battling for the minor places. Pierre stayed in that group and eased away over the last 300m to an impressive 2nd . Dylan, Eoin and Christopher( in his first race) did very well overall.
Thanks to all the parents who brought the children out, supported them and helped out with the teams. Next big day will be Nationals on 17th November in Santry.
League results are now up on the Dublin Athletics Board website.
