Day 1 of the Nationals report

In addition to Emily’s fantastic bronze medal performance on Saturday we also had Caoimhe run an indoor pb in her 400m, Susie and Clare both ran in a very scrappy 800m heat and battled well but didn’t make the final. Catherine and Daire qualified for their finals(covered in earlier posts).

National senior update

A very entertaining day of Athletics it turned out to be on day 2 of the National seniors in Abbott’stown. Our supporters were thrilled to watch Catherine coming 2nd in her 400m final in a fantastic personal best time of 53.81 secs. On Saturday morning her pb was 54.15 so that was pretty much shattered! Great run Catherine. Muireann had a good day in a competitive pole vault and equalled her personal best. Alison Burke was up against all ‘the big girls ‘ today in the 60m hurdles but she handled the pressure very well doing a big pb and finishing 6th in the final.
Daire Finn got caught up in a very tactical 1500m and did his best. With very experienced senior runners calling the shots it was never going to be pretty but championship running is like that.

Thank you to all our ‘kit team’ and to all who supported our athletes today. This is the stage we are aiming for with all our young athletes. Great to see so many of our parents and friends there today.
