Brother schools races in Santry today

We had a big gang in action today in Santry on a truly lovely day for cross country and a really nice course to run on. Our athletes were on their game today with a very nice win for Sean Donoghue (St Declans)in the junior boys race. We had Clare Murphy (St Dominics) come a really good 2nd in the junior girls with Sara Byrne (StDominics)having the race of her life in 3rd place in the junior girls.

Team wise Clare O Connor led her team from MHOC to 3rd place by finishing 5th overall in the 6th class girls race. James Mc Manus helped his team from St John Bosco helped his team to 3rd place in the 6th class boys race.

In the minor girls race Kate Harrold finished 5th and led her St Dominics team to first place with Kacey Tully, Alex Corr and Keelin Gogarty on the team. 254 girls started that race! No wonder our little Kate and Alex got bashed about at the start.

In the junior girls race Aoibh Collins ran really well and was on the winning team from Dominican Griffith Ave , beating St Dominics Cabra into 2nd place. Clare Murphy and Sara Byrne were well supported by Cliodhna Donaghy, Gillian Murphy and Laura Maleady. Unfortunately Anna Petit sprained her ankle warming up and wasnt able to run. Conor Murphy and Killian Corcoran ran well for St Declans and their team just missed out on a medal.

In the inter Girls race Dora led in the St Dominics team in 5th place, with Abbey Corr running herself to a standstill coming in 2nd for the team, Emily Murphy, Celine Gavin (having her best run in a long time) Sara Jane Darcy coming in 3rd team overall.

The senior boys race set off at a very fast pace due in part to the great ground conditions but also a pretty strong field. Daire Finn managed to stay with the pace until the 3rd lap and finished in a fine 5th place in his first race of the current season. This was a tough race and will set him up for the Dublins in two weeks time on his home turf on the new National cross country course in Ballycoolin.
Great running everyone! Thanks to all the parents who gave lifts and supported the young athletes.

If anyone has more photos please send them on.

Thirty eight of our younger athletes represented the club in glorious sunshine at league 2 in the Phoenix Park this morning. Well done to everyone who represented the club and a big thank you to the parents who brought out the athletes and supported everyone.

In the Novice womens race Alison Armstrong went into an early lead pulling three athletes along with her. The four of them ran away from the rest of the field with Alison bravely battling it out. Over the final k of the 4k race the other three pulled away and Alison finished a fine 4th. This was a great result for Alison in her first outing this season.
