Day 2 of the Nationals

We had athletes in 3 finals today in Santry where there were some brilliant races. The mens and womens 400m and 400m hurdles races were particularly exciting as was the finish of the mens 1500m and 5000m. Catherine McManus ran very well in her 100m final coming 5th, Niamh Donnelly was tired today after her great run in her heat yesterday finishing 8th in her final. Catherine, Niamh, Aoife Ni Bhroin and Alison Burke ran in the 4x 400m relay and really had our supporters on their toes. Catherine ran a brilliant first leg and took the team into a good lead, she handed over to Niamh who had only finished her 1500m twenty mins earlier. Niamh ran really well and handed over to Alison Burke in second place. Alison held her place and Aoife Ni Bhroin gave it everything on the last lap to hold on to a brilliant 2nd place for the team. There was a great cheer for the girls as they got presented with their silver medals. It was great for all our younger athletes who were there to see our older girls on the podium. Great weekend.๐Ÿ˜Š
