New Years Day 5k
We had a total of nine athletes competing today in the Tommy Brennan memorial 5Km in Phoenix Park today, looking to retain our women’s title which we won on the last few occasions it was held.Fine weather conditions greeted the competitors today but it was quite blustery which tended to lower the temperature. Nonetheless it was a good day for racing and some exciting competition transpired.
We had some fine running from Celine, Edel M, Lauren, Alison, Sinead and Edel Mc, and a number of PBs were recorded. The women’s team won with 18 points.Celine had a particularly fine run to take second place in her first race as a senior. The men’s team, Joe, Rowan and Christopher, all juniors finished a creditable 9th with some fine runs.
All our members wore black ribbons as a mark of respect for our recently deceased club president, Chris Wall.
