Podium finishes for Caolan, Gillian and Dora

Day 2 of the Dublin cross country championships were held in ideal conditions in Santry today. Our under 9s got the day started with Martha, Saoirse, Amelia, Abigail and Hugh all running very well in very competitive races.

The under 11 girls and boys were also very fast races and although they didnt get medals our team ran very well with Niamh Bergin, Shona, Lily, Jana, Aimee and Mia (great sprint finish) representing the club. Killian narrowly missed out on a medal in the boys under 11 with Daniel not far behind.
Caolan Collins was always in a medal position throughout the under 13 girls race and held on to win a well deserved bronze medal and was delighted to lead her team to bronze medals with Lia, Niamh o Connor, Cliodhna Ryan, Aoife and Hazel Maguire.
Finn was our only under 13 boy today and he ran his usual gutsy race and finished well.
In the under 15 girls race Gillian Murphy had the run of her life coming 3rd and winning her first Dublin individual medal and proudly led her team of Clare (sister), Aoibh Collins, Clare o Connor, Antonia, Aontoneitte and Kacey to team silver medals. Clare and Aoibh were both in the top 12 today! Great running girls. Conor kept the club flag flying in the under 15 boys and he finished well.
Dora was on fire from the start in the under 17 race and she finished a fine 3rd and led Emily, Ella Mae, Celine and Sara to team silver. Celine ran really well on the last lap today and fought all the way to the finish. Very impressive running!
Sean Donoghue ran the under 17 race today and gave a very good account of himself finishing 4th against the ‘big boys’. Daire was our only competitor in the junior /under 19 event and although he’s no lover of cross country he ran a solid race finishing 6th overall.
Niamh Donnelly finished a good 10th in the senior womens 6k, with Aislinn Moorehouse, Edel and Aoife Nibhroin completing our team. Well done to everyone. Thanks to all the supporters and parents. A long busy day!!
