Indoor league first round update

Our women’s team got off to a great start in the first round of indoor league in Abbottstown on Sat. Alison Burke set us up with an impressive 2nd in the hurdles closely followed by two 2nd places for Catherine McManus in the long jump.snd the 60m. Meanwhile Muireann was chalking up valuable points with 3rd in the pole vault, Brigid made her annual appearance in the shot putt and can still putt that ball out there!! Well done on a fine 4th. To finish off day one Nadia ran away with the 800m gaining maximum points.

In conjunction with the team competing we had athletes competing in the guest events. Like the women’s team they were all having their first indoor competition of the season.

Sam had a good run in his 60m, Craig jumped a PB in his long jump, Sara and Aoibh ran in the 800 with Sara getting a PB, Joe and Rowen ran in the 800 with Joe finishing 3rd just around his outdoor pb time, Jodie McCann win the 1500m very impressively, Celine did a big pb in the 1500 with Dora also running well.
Sean Dnoghue ran a smart race winning the men’s 1500m.
In the 400m races Clare Murphy ran a great race in her 400m heat, Ashley went off a bit too fast in her heat and paid the price in the last 100 but didn’t give up and Ian ran strongly in his heat not far off his pb.
Well done everyone. Lots more races in the coming weeks. On the 24th of January we have National under 23 and junior in Athlone. On the following day we have the 2nd and final round of the league also in Athlone.
