Our older athletes had a very successful day in Abbottstown today. First off was Catherine in the 400m where she came a fine 3rd in her best time indoors since 2018. Caoimhe Lynam opened her season with a very good run just off her best 400m time. Meanwhile Emily Corcoran was in a four person battle in the high jump , all tied on 1m 65 and finished 4th on countback with a seasons best.
Next up was Alison in the hurdles where she had two races and ran a very good seasons best in race 2. Edel Monaghan had a good run in her 800m. Catherine had her second race of the day in the 200m winning a well judged race in a seasons best and also her best time since 2018.
The 1500m races finished off the programme with Jody McCann having a good outing in a competitive race and Aoife ni Bhroin running a PB. In the men’s 1500 Pierre ran close to the pacemaker for most of the race and pulled away impressively on the last lap to win in his fastest time ever. Great to see Pierre back running strong after a long struggle with injury. Sean meanwhile was never too far off the pace and used his strength over the last 200m also running a new personal best time. Great results all round and great encouragement for the rest of the indoor season. Well done everyone.
