Hopefully we will all be recovered soon from the excitement at the weekend in the indoor arena. So many races, so much learned.
On Saturday we had a group competing in the 500/600/800 and long and high jumps. No medals and only Amelia made a final but everyone did their best in very high standard competitions. Great experience for all on the day.
On Sunday we had 11 teams in action at the relay championships. The number of teams in every race was unreal and competition was fierce. Our best results on the day was our lads under 11 and the girls under 16. Our boys under 11 are a truly unique team of two sets of twins!! The coolest lads in NIA came away with a well deserved 3rd place in their final. Well done Canice, Senan, Alex and Edward, you were great!
The girls under 16 just lost out on a silver medal in their final by one hundredth of a second despite great running by Martha, Aimee, Goda and Alice. Martha and Alice had a very busy weekend as they also made the final of the under 15 relay with Abigail and Megan. Well done girls.
All the teams ran their hearts out and they all should be proud of themselves.
Well done everyone and thank you to all the parents who brought their children to the NIA. Lots of our young athletes had their first competitive experience this weekend and it can be scary with the noise level.
Thanks to Hilary, Catherine, Emer, Maria and Emily who organised the warmups.
Thanks also to Ritchie and Keelin who officiated as time keeper and on photo finish.
