George Malone R.I.P

Some of you may already have heard the sad news that Dublin City Harriers stalwart, George Malone, has died.  We extend our sincere sympathies to his family.

George competed with distinction for DCH at middle distance, particularly during the 60’s and 70’s, always proud to wear the three castle crest.

In this club photo from 1973 outside the old club house at Longmeadows, George is indicated towards the right of the photo.

If you would like to attend his funeral on-line or send your condolences you can do so via RIP.ie

May he rest in peace.

News update

On Saturday last we had athletes competing at the Northern Ireland championships in Mary Peters track in Belfast. Aoife Corr had an early start in the 800m which was first event at 10am, running well but didn’t make the final. Next up was Catherine who won her 100m and 200m heats in fine style. Later on she came 3rd in the 100 final and withdrew from the 200m final for a well earned rest ! In the 1500m races Edel Monaghan ran another pb and on Wednesday night smashed her 800m pb also in Belfast. Great running Edel! Sinead and Aislinn were also impressive in the 1500 running just outside their best times.
Joe ran in the 1500m which was very competitive but he acquitted himself well against senior men and on Wednesday he also ran in the graded meeting in Lucan .
Club training is now finished for the month of August. There are a few who will continue on their own. Those who finished early due to
Injury or illness should start back in mid August to get a head start for September. Stay safe!
