Dublin Juvenile Leagues report

Overall we had a very small group representing the club over the 4 weekend of the leagues. This is where children learn to compete, how to cope with disappointment and get opportunities to try all events. Our little bunch of athletes enjoyed themselves and great to see confidence building as each competition took place. Pride of the parish was Martha Fisher who is outright winner of the under 10 girls managing to make all 4 events, Aimee Ryan had a family event so missed out on one weekend and finished 4th overall under 11. Gillian Murphy came 4th under 16 and Aoibh Collins was 7th. Starting with the under 10 age group apart from Martha, Abigail had a very good 200m in league 4, Amelia, Saoirse and Eva all ran well in league 1 . Hugh was a busy little boy over all the leagues running particularly well in league 4 in the 200m.
Aimee Ryan was very dominant in the sprints and long jump in the under 11 age group and Aimee Corcoran put in a very good 200 in League 4. Our under 12 group were well represented in all 4 leagues with Lily in particular showing great improvement and determination in her events, Niamh Bergin, Mia and Daniel ran well in league 1. Beth had a very good 600m in league 3 and ran a solid 200 in league 4. Shona ran very well in her 600m races and wasnt bad at the high jump either. Oisin had a very good 200m in league 4.

Niamh O Connor and Aoife Corocran were prominent over all events on all 4 dates with Aoife strong over 200 in league 4 and Niamh 4th in the high jump. Cliodhna Ryan had a busy time trying out all events under 14 and Caolan Collins was 3rd in 1000m and 2nd in her 1500m. Clare O Connor, Alex, Kacey and Keelin were all prominent in the under 15 age group as were the Murphy triplets and Aoibh Collins in the under 16 age group. Laura Maleady ran very well in League 1. Well done to everyone and thank you to all the parents who supported their children and helped out when asked.

Our next very busy weekend will be the Dublin Community Games on the 9th and 10th of June with the 600/800m Dublin championships on Friday 8th June all in Santry.

Graded 3 results

Graded 3 was held in Tallaght on Wednesday night and we had competitors in the 400m and 800m. Ashley Oka raced her first 400m and ran came 5th. Sam and Reece were also racing over 400 for the first time with Sam running a 58.2 and Reece 60.01.

In the 800m A race Dora and Aoife both ran well, in the B race Sara Byrne had a good win with Emily Murphy 4th, Sara Jane Brennan and Edel had a great battle in the C race with Edel just edging it. Fiona had another good outing over 800 in the D race.

Our performance of the night was the huge pb by Oisin Carr who won his grade D race improving by 10 seconds on his race two weeks ago running 2m 16secs. Oisin just joined us this winter and is getting stronger all the time. Well done everyone.
