Sean wins junior schools all Ireland 1500m

Well done to Sean Donoghue on a great win in the junior 1500m at the all Ireland schools finals in Tullamore today. Sean ran a text book race, staying on the leaders shoulder until the last lap and pulled away strongly to win by 20m. Earlier in the day Alison Burke was impressive taking a bronze medal in the senior 100m hurdles and Emily Corcoran was 5th in the inter high jump.

In Belgium today Catherine Mc Manus ran a new pb in the hurdles and ran two very strong 100m races. Her flight was delayed last night due to air traffic control issues and she got to her hotel at 1am this morning so she did very well despite the lack of sleep. Well done to all.

Results update from AAI games

Our senior group had a busy and successful day at the AAI games in Santry today. Our busiest athlete this weekend was Catherine Mc Manus who added a pb and 2nd place in the hurdles today to a seasons best yesterday in both the 100 and 200m at the IUAA international. She also came 2nd today in the 100m. Also busy was Alison Burke who came 3rd in the 100m hurdles and 4th in the 400m hurdles running a strong last 200m. Caoimhe Lynam had great run in the 400m knocking a second off her previous best time. Niamh Donnelly knocked 3 seconds off her best time winning the 1500m with Clare Brennan very close to her pb coming 2nd. Susie McManus ran a seasons best in her 800 with Aoife, Emily, Ellen and Aoife Corr all running well. Great to see Pierre back in action with a very good run in the 1500m finishing 2nd. Others getting back on track today were Aislinn Moorehouse in the 1500m and Steffi Creaner in the 200m. Emily Corcoran was off her best in her high jump competition today but will have Irish schools next weekend to look forward to. Cliona Murphy came 4th in the 1500 at the IUAA meeting yesterday. Well done every one. Great to see all the personal bests and seasons bests.
