National Cross Country 2016 Day 1 Update
Our star performer today in Abbottstown was Caolan Collins who continued her fine cross country season with a very strong mature run finishing 3rd in the under 12 girls race. This was Caolans first Nationals and we are all very proud of her. Lia also ran in the under 12 girls and she held her place out of the Dublin finishers.
Clare Murphy also held her place among the Dublin finishers in the under 14 girls, Dora got a bad stitch early in the under 16 race but still managed to score on the Dublin team which won the inter county title.
Alison Armstrong had her best finish in national cross country in a long time finishing 8th in the junior women’s race. Daire Finn found his first national cross country to be a tough outing and while he was very disappointed with his run he scored on the Dublin inter county team which finished 2nd. Cross country is all about how you feel on the day and it can be a hard day if it goes against you.
Three of our older crew ran in the senior women’s race and even though they were off the pace they enjoyed the experience of their first outing over 8k. Well done to Niamh, Clare and Aoife.
There were some fantastic races up there today, really enthusiastic support, great course, great organisation, great weather, great to be alive!😊
(Thanks to Ken Donoghue for the pics!)
