Results Update: Final Day of National Cross Country 2016
Our star performer on Day 2 of the Nationals in Dundalk today was Sean Donoghue who finished a superb 3rd in the boys under 15 race. Sean was also on the Dublin team which came 2nd in the inter county event.
Others who performed well today were Caolan Collins who was running up an age group and she came 36th and was on the Dublin team which came 3rd in the inter county and inter provincial events. The rest of the girls under 13 team ran roughly up the standard of the Dublin championships and came in just behind DSD in the team event.
Joe Fogarty got his first taste of Nationals and he took it all in his long stride and finished a very impressive 22nd. Dublin narrowly missed out on team medals in this race. Big surprise of the day was the fantastic run by Sara Byrne who improved on her 12th place in the Dublins to be 5th Dublin athlete in today in 40th place in the under 15 girls race, a really gutsy run from Sara.
Evan ran a steady race in the under 19s finishing 49th, Our Novice women finished in 4th place overall with Alison Armstrong finishing 9th and winning a medal on the Dublin team. Susan, Cliona, Edel and Aoife were the other members of our team. Well done to all!
This brings the 2016 cross country season to a close. Thank you to all our athletes who have represented the club at whatever level and thank you to all the parents and supporters!
