Dublin Championships Day 2 Update

Well done to everyone who represented the club today in Santry and thank you to all the parents who supported our young athletes. We had George and Hugh in the under 9 boys race and both are only 7 but they ran really well with Hugh passing lots of runners in the finishing straight. In the under 11 girls Aoife, Niamh O Connor, Lily and Niamh Bergin(in her first race and up an age group) all ran very well. Finn Mc Auley ran well and just missed out on a medal in the under 13 boys race with Oisin just behind him. In the under 13 girls race our under 12 champion Caolan Collins led the the team in 6th place with Clare O Connor having her best race ever finishing 10th, Antoinette 11th and Antonia 12th, followed by Kacey, Alex, Keelin and Julianne. The under 13 team finished 2nd behind a strong DSD team. Great result girls . Well done.
What a run from Joe Fogarty in his first outing for the club! He finished 4th in the under 13 boys race and has only been training with us for the past 3 to 4 weeks. Great running Joe! Keep it up. Joe will be on the Dublin team for the Nationals in Dundalk in December.
Our under 15 girls team was missing a few athletes but Sara Byrne fought hard to get a medal in 12th place and a spot on the Dublin team for the Nationals. Clare, Celine and Sara Jane all did their best over a tough 3500m course.
Sean Donoghue continued his fine cross country season with an impressive win in the under 15 boys race and secured his spot on the Dublin team .
Ben Casey had a solid run in the under 17 boys race, Alison Armstrong ran possibly her best race over the country coming a close 4th in the junior womens race, Daire Finn was am impressive 6th in a very competitive junior mens race with Evan finishing in the twenties. The full results are not available yet but as soon as we get them we will put on the club website or check the Dublin athletics website in the next day or two.

Leinster Novice

Great news from Tyrellspass this afternoon from our novice women’s team! Susie finished 12th, Olwyn 22nd, Edel 34th and Siobhan 56th and the team finished 3rd behind Sportsworld and Tullamore. Susie, Olwyn and Siobhan are returning to competition after a long break and its great to see them getting stuck in. Interestingly the winner and 4th place runner competed against Siobhan and Olwyn in under 12 and 13 Nationals many years ago. 😊 well done!
