Dublin community Games in Santry on Sat and Sunday. Programme and timetable available on Tuesday.

Dublin.senior championships

A group of our older athletes ran in the Dublin seniors in Santry last night. We left for Santry in bright sunshine but on arrival were greeted with thick sea mist which caused the temperature to drop noticeably. Thankfully the wind stayed away for the sprints and Catherine McManus was given 3rd place despite an obvious false start from another athlete in her race. Aoife Nibhroin and Finn Burke Power ran well in their 400m races.
In the 1500m races Cliona Murphy and Pierre Murchan both had great runs finishing 3rd in their races and winning their first Dublin senior individual medals. Well done to all.

Results update

The Irish schools championships were held in glorious sunshine in Tullamore today. The first athlete from the club into  action was Alison Armstrong in the senior steeplechase. Alison ran a great last 200m to win a fine silver medal in her last schools race. She also ran a personal best time and is a happy girl as she heads into her leaving cert week.
Daire Finn came 2nd in a very competitive inter boys 800m. Not by choice he ended up in the lead but he kept a cool head and was just caught in the run in to the finish. Great running from both athletes.

Emily Corcoran was in the inter high jump and just clipped 1m60 on her last attempt and was knocked out of her competition, finishing 5th overall. She has another year in the intermediate age group.

Well done to all. Best of luck to everyone in the Dublin championships in Tallaght on Sunday.
