Dublin Indoors 2016

We had a great weekend of competition with lots of Celtic DCHers competing in the Dublin Indoors (&Outdoors!!)

Day 1: Friday Night Santry

Dora ran great race to finish 2nd in the U16 girls 1500m and Aoife Corr placed 3rd with Ellen in 4th in the U19 1500m. Daire had a great run to place 1st in the U18 1500m with Evan in 3rd in the U19 boys race. Ben was also happy with his race in the boys U17 1500m.

Aoife, Ellen, Daire, and Dora had all run on Wednesday in the Leinster Schools Cross Country so they had a tough week!

On Friday night Emily managed a major breakthrough winning theU16 high jump when clearing a new PB of 1.60m – great jumping by Emily and puts her right up there Nationally in her age group! Alison finished 2nd in the Long Jump U17.

Day 2 : Saturday Morning Santry

Chloe, Ali and Caoimhe all placed 2nd in their respective 200m finals and Finn Bourke-Power 4th in his 200m. Lily and Shona ran very well coming in 5th and 6th in the 500m U11 and Niamh was a good 9th. Finn (U11) was 5th in the 500m. Aoife Corr was a close 3rd in the 800m U19 and Daire and Evan both won their 800m races . Sean ran really in the U15 800m finishing 4th and would certainly have been feeling the effects of his hard race on Wednesday when winning the Leinster Schools.

In the U 13 600m Antonia, Antoinette and Kacey did really well to make the finals.  Juliane, Claire, Alex and Keelin also ran really well in their heats.

Leinster Schools Cross Country 2016

On Wednesday last the Leinster Schools Cross Country were held in Santry and we had several club athletes representing their schools.

In the minor girls race Anna Petit, Sarah Byrne, Gillian Murphy and Cliodhna Donaghy represented St. Dominics and were very unlucky to be without their lead runner Claire Murphy who was ill on the day and just missed out on qualification to Nationals.

In the Minor boys race Sean Donoghue representing St. Declans had a fantastic run and won his first Leinster Schools title in fine style. Conor Murphy also ran for St. Declans in the Minor boys and fought all the way to the finish despite having a bad cold.

In the Junior girls race Dora Medgyesy ran very well finishing 5th despite also carrying a heavy cold. In the Inter Boys race Daire Finn ran a strong race to finish up in 9th place. In the Senior Girls race Ellen Byrne and Aoife Corr put their mocks aside for the day and came out to represent their school St. Dominics but unfortunately the team did not qualify. Aoife Donaghy also ran well on their Senior Girls team.

Well done everyone! Its great to be representing your school at Leinster level and you should all be very proud of yourselves!
