World relay championships in Bahamas

Well done to Catherine Mc Manus and Steffi Creaner who have been selected to represent Ireland on the 4 x 100m squad at the World relay championships on the May Bank Holiday weekend. They travel to Florida this week for a week of relay training and then go down to the Bahamas on the 30th of April. Its a great achievement for our club to have 2 girls on the relay team and both have been with the club since they were very young, Catherine started with us when she was 6! A lot of hard work, and a lot of tears along the way but lots of good days as well. This is the biggest competition either have been to so it will be very exciting for them both. Best of luck girls and enjoy the experience.

Weekend results round up

Well done to all our junior athletes who competed in the junior and mini Great Ireland runs on Saturday. Have a look at the results on the Great Ireland run website to see how well you all ran. Mean while in Belfast at the National Intervarsity championships we had some very good performances from our older girls. Aislinn Moorehouse ran a big pb in the womens 1500m where Niamh Donnelly finished a fine 4th in a good season opener. Steffi Creaner won the womens 100m and 200m. In the Rotterdam marathon Sean Morley our well experienced marathoner knocked almost 5 mins off his best time running 2hours 48mins proving that hitting the big 50 is no barrier to improving your marathon time. Keep it going Sean and a big well done.
