Alice competed today in her first pentathlon in Santry. Straight off the plane last night from her holidays and out for check in before 9. If that’s what it takes it has to be done! Over the 5 events (hurdles, shot, high jump, long jump and 800m) she finished 8th. Happy overall but delighted with her long jump where she finally got over the 5m with a new pb of 5.04m . Well done Alice, a great confidence booster for national long jump later in the month.

We had 4 athletes in action today at day 1 of the national under age champs in Tullamore. First into action was Max in the under 13 shot putt where he got all legal throws and wasn’t far off his best. Very competitive age group with the winner doing a massive championship record.,

Rion ran a huge pb in her heat of the hurdles and qualified well for the final. Unfortunately she got a poor start in the final which definitely cost her places . Great experience in her first nationals.

Martha ran a great new pb and made the final of her hurdles. She got off to
A great start in her final and whacked the 3rd hurdle and was not able to get back in contention. But a pb day is always a good day!

Pearl did a new pb by nearly 3 seconds in her heat of her 800, great run and should give her great encouragement to really go for this event next year.

Hector was our highest placed athlete today just missing out on a bronze medal in the high jump under 13. He jumped a pb of 1.40 and that height finished 2nd. 3rd , 4th and 5th in the age group above his. Well done Hector!
Thank you to the parents who brought their children to Tullamore and supported them.
