Super Weekend for DCH Women’s Teams

Congrats and Well Done to our different squads who competed at the Jingle Bells road race on Saturday morning and the Nationals Novice All Ireland’s in Kilkenny yesterday.

Jingle Bells – the winning team of Cliona (16.36); Edel (17.17); Aoife (18.25); Christelle (18.38 & 1st Junior) and Silje (18.41). These were great times all round considering the cold and windy conditions!

National Novice XC – the team of Celine (7), Eimear (24), Aoife (41) and Aislinn (42) got the bronze by 1 point from Clonliffe Harriers with Letterkenny and Dunboyne taking 1st and 2nd respectively. Some of the squad were carrying colds into the race but all gave of their absolute best on very testing conditions underfoot in Gowran. Keeping our scoring 4 on their toes were Ellen (50), Sinead (60), Edel (106), Aoife D (116), Fiona (130) and Heather (137) – what an awesome turnout!

Edel wins Dublin intermediate cross country

Well done to Edel Monaghan on a great win today at the Dublin intermediate cross country in Tymon park. Edel proudly led our team of Silje, Ellen , Aoife Corr and Aoife Donaghy to team gold. A great season for our senior group , winning the Novice, intermediate and senior Dublin county titles. Great reward for a very hard working group of women.

Our younger crew were out early in the day for the juvenile races. Great to see all the young athletes learning their trade and improving with each outing. Thanks to all the parents who helped out and supported the children today.

Dublin Intermediate Results

Maybe there is something in the mountain air that appeals to our women’s team but this is the third time for us to visit the Tallaght area this season and collect first team medals.

Tymon North is located at the foot of Mountpelier Hill which was shrouded in a cold mist all day long. Also hidden therefore was the notorious Hell Fire Club, said to be the scene of much debauchery and meetings of the occult in the last century and even before. We didn’t bother in any of that today but concentrated instead on the job in hand.

A field of 55 runners set off at the appointed time. Our team of Edel M, Silje, Ellen, Aoife C, Aoife D and Edel Mc, all northsiders were prominent from the off. Edel and Silje broke away from their competitors early opening up bigger and bigger gaps the further the race continued. Ellen and Aoife came through the field and picked up places finishing 6th and 9th respectfully. Aoife D continued her improvement with a solid 37th position but Edel Mc had to give up after half way.

Another great day adding the Dublin Intermediate title to the Novice Cross Country and Road Championships. Increasing our reason to celebrate, DCH won the three Dublin Cross Country Championships within the same season for the first time in the clubs history. Hellfire Club be dammed.
