National indoor day 2 update

Day 2 of the Nationals was an exciting day for the club. Alison Burke ran a seasons best to make the final of the 60m hurdles. Pierre had a great run in the 3000m coming 4th in a new personal best time.Nadia led from 400m out to win the 800m impressively. Susie ran in the finals of the 800 and 1500 and though not expecting to medal in either she enjoyed the experience. Sean had a very good run finishing 5th in the senior 1500 with Daire Finn in 9th place. In the 400m Catherine ran into traffic and unfortunately couldn’t avoid a crash which is not unusual in 400m indoor running.
Relays finished off the day and very competitive teams showed up in both races. Alison led off for us and handed to Caoimhe, on to Nadia who handed to Catherine neck in neck with Leevale who had 60m sprint silver medallist Joan Healy on leg 4. Catherine ran very hard to hang on to Joan and the team were rewarded with 2nd place after the second very competitive heat was finished. First and second teams both broke the previous National club record. Well done to everyone. Great weekend of athletics.
Thank you to all our younger crew who did the gear collection. You did a great job and thanks to the parents who brought them up.
