Day 2 National Indoors

We had 4 athletes in action on day 2 of the National Indoor on Sunday. Keelin Gogarty and Clare o Connor ran well in the heats of the 800 under 16 but didn’t make it through to the final. In the under 17 race Clare Murphy missed out on a final place but Gillian got through and ran a new personal best finishing 5th in the final. A great weekend for Gillian, two 5th places and two PBs. Sara Byrne did well to make the final of the under 18 race but two hard races in one day was a big ask and she found the final very tough going but she never gave up!. The standard was very high in all the 800m races and is a huge step up in class from the Dublins. Keelin and Clare were in their first track Nationals and will learn a lot from the weekend. On to outdoors everyone!!!!

Training this week

Tue 2nd April Bogies at 4pm for anyone who’s free. Hole in the wall 7pm everyone else. The temperature is still low in the evenings so long sleeve under short sleeve still needed.

Wed 3rd April high jump at 6 in the hall

Thur 4th April Hole in the wall 7pm everyone

Day 1 National juvenile indoor update

Great news from Athlone today that Emily Corcoran has won the under 19 high jump title with a jump off 1 m 63cm. Emily was not feeling great this morning but still managed to pull off the win. Gillian Murphy was delighted with her 5th place in the 1500m under 17 and even more delighted with a 7 second PB running 4m.56secs! Clare o Connor was competing in her first National track event and ran really well and will gain great experience from racing today. Well done to everyone. Gillian and Clare are back tomorrow for the 800, with Clare Murphy, Keelin Gogarty and Sara Byrne.
