Indoor league round 1

The 2019 indoor season got under way today in NIA with the first of two rounds of the inter club National indoor league. 10 clubs have entered this year so a good score was vital on day one. Alison got us off to a good start finishing 2nd in the hurdles, Muireann came 3rd in the pole vault, Catherine notched up valuable points with 3rd in the long jump and 3rd in the 60m, Cliona came 3rd in a competitive 800m and to finish off our day Brigid came 2nd in the shot. Solid scoring throughout the day saw us lead by 7 points going into day two in 2 weeks time.
Guest races were held throughout the day and we had some very good results particularly from Susie Mc Manus who came 2nd in both the 800 and 1500 running a personal best in the 800. Clare Brennan had her first outing in a long time in the 800 and Cliona came 4th in the guest 1500.
Catherine won her 400 and Caoimhe came 3rd in her 400m race. Ian Lawler had a good run in his 400. Good to see Evan back racing over 800m.
Overall a good day out for the club, cobwebs dusted off and lots more to look forward to over the next few weeks.

Pierre & Cliona in form in New year’s Day,5k

Great running from Pierre Murchan today finishing 3rd in his first race in six months at the Tom Brennan memorial 5k road race in the Phoenix Park. Hopefully he can build on this great start to 2019 and get back to top form. Cliona Murphy had a great run finishing 4th in the women’s race and led her team of Susie McManus and Edel McNamara to first place in the team race. Dave Gogarty was very happy with his run doing a faster time than last year. Well done everyone! Photos to follow.
