Dublin XC Championships (Even Ages) 2017 Update

We had a great turnout of club athletes on Sunday at the first day of the ‘Dublins’. First off were our under 10 girls and all 4 found it tough but got round the 1k course. Well done to Aimee, Aoibhinn Aimee and Martha who was sick all week. Hugh was only boy under 10 and he finished strong as well. Our under 12 girls started off very well on the first of their two laps but faded a little on the 2nd lap. Well done to the two Niamhs, Shona, Clodagh, Lily and Beth. The boys ran well too with Finn leading them in strongly and much improved running from Oscar, Cillian and Daniel. With another winter of training under their belts both these teams will improve.
Our under 14 girls team of Caolan, Antonia, Aontoneitte, Kacey, Alex, Clare and Keelin finished 3rd team over the 3k course, all finished very tired and makes us question the increase in the distances the young athletes are expected to run.
Joseph Fogarty didn’t have any problems as he powered to an impressive win in the under 14 boys race winning his first Dublin cross country title.
Gillian Murphy ran a super race in the girls under 16 finishing 6th, qualifying for her first national and up an age group as well! Clare, Sara and Celine all competed well and they just missed out on a team medal. Sean Donoghue ran really well in the under 16 boys race winning another Dublin title to add to his growing collection and Conor Murphy came home strong in 16th place. In the under 18 girls race Dora and Emily made the first 12 and qualified for the National. Abbey and Kate were very happy to finish and helped the team win silver medals.
In the junior mens race Daire Finn finally got his winter season underway finishing 19th in his race, good to see Pierre back racing over the country finishing 28th in the senior mens race 7k race.
Susie finished 26th and Cliona 36th in the senior womens race good running over a tough 6k course.
Well done to everyone and thanks to all the parents and friends who supported.
