Any one who has community games trophies from last year should make sure they are engraved ( free in Irish rubies). They need to be dropped to Carmichael house in Brunswick Street asap.

Dublin senior championships
A cold miserable evening greeted our athletes in Santry on Wednesday evening for the senior 100,400 and 1500m races. The high jump had to go indoor as conditions outside were unsafe for jumping. First into action was Catherine McManus in the 100m and she ran really well to win the gold medal. 25 mins later she ran her first 400m of the season and she won that as well in a personal best time. Great running in trying conditions! Caoimhe Lynam had a strong run in her 400, Emily Corcoran came 2nd in the high jump. By the time the 1500m races got under way the rain has stopped and conditions were much improved. Niamh Donnelly took out the pace and made most of the running but got caught by the group on the last lap, herself and Clare Brennan finished together in a sprint finish with Cliona Murphy not far behind. Edel McNamara had her first outing on the track, surprised herself and can’t wait for her next one! Pierre continued his comeback with an impressive 2nd in the men’s 1500. Muireann Mc Ginley had her first please vault competition since she hurt her ankle in early April. All results will be on the Dublin Athletic board website today or tomorrow.

Sean wins junior schools all Ireland 1500m
Well done to Sean Donoghue on a great win in the junior 1500m at the all Ireland schools finals in Tullamore today. Sean ran a text book race, staying on the leaders shoulder until the last lap and pulled away strongly to win by 20m. Earlier in the day Alison Burke was impressive taking a bronze medal in the senior 100m hurdles and Emily Corcoran was 5th in the inter high jump.

In Belgium today Catherine Mc Manus ran a new pb in the hurdles and ran two very strong 100m races. Her flight was delayed last night due to air traffic control issues and she got to her hotel at 1am this morning so she did very well despite the lack of sleep. Well done to all.
