DCU Schools cross country update

We had a very busy day at the DCU races this morning. In the minor girls race we had 3 athletes representing St Dominics College with Kate Harrold leading the team with a great run in 5th place. With Kacey Tully and Keelin Gogarty both running out of their skins the Dominics girls were first team overall. Alex Corr was withdrawn due to illness. Antonia ran for Kings Hospital and did well finishing in the top 12. S

The junior girls were next off and Clare Murphy finished an impressive 6th with Sara Byrne equally impressive in 8th place, Gillian Murphy, Laura Maleady and Ashley Oka completed the team which finished a very creditiable 4th overall in a very competitive race.

Sean Donoghue had a great win in the junior boys race(running for St Declans) despite having a tough week due to the death of his grandad who was a huge athletics fan and supporter of the club. Conor,Liam, Killian and Ian all ran well for St Declans in a huge field of over 200 runners.

All the inter girls team from St Dominics were club athletes, Dora finished very strongly in 3rd place, Emily was 8th, Abbey and Gabriella ran together very strongly with Celine just behind and Sara Jane made up the team which finished first overall! Well done to everyone and many thanks to all the parents who supported today. ☺

Indoor league day 1

Our senior women got off to a great start in Athlone today with wins for Catherine McManus in the hurdles and Muireann Mcginley in the pole vault. Later on Steffi Creaner got 3rd in the 60m, Chloe Corcoran came 9th in the long jump and Susie McManus ran her first 800m in a long time and gained valuable points finishing 3rd. Catherine also did her annual shot putt and came 5th in a new pb.
Also running well in the guest races were Clare Brennan, Aoife corr and Aoife Nibhroin in the women’s 800m and Daire Finn in the men’s 800m. Well done to all😊. Indoor 2017 up and running!
