National League Round Two 2016

DSC02353.JPG

Our DCH womens team were picking up points left right and centre while having another stormer of a weekend placing joint first with defending Champions Leevale AC in round 2 of the National League in Athlone today. Two leagues won in a row! Yeeeoowww!

First up was Catherine in the 200m who learned the hard way how not to run a 200m and was left sick with her face in the bin afterwards for about 45mins – but she won none the less so all was well!

We then had the two Aoifes in action in the jumps – Aoife Ni Bhroin in the triple jump and Aoife Corr in the high jump. Both scored valuable points for the team helping us sneak ahead of the competition.

Next in action was Niamh in the 1500m who had a great run in a very competitive race to secure 2nd place and 11 more points for the team.

Caoimhe was the final league team member on the track picking up points in the 400m and running a stormer of a final 80m snapping up valuable places in the last few meters – a great demonstration as to why you should not give up and always “run right through the line!”

We also had plenty of DCHers competing in the individual races with Alison & Aoife Ni Bhroin in the 200m, the Aoife Corr & Catherine in the 400m, Evan in the 1500m and Finn & Jamie in the 400m. Great gutsy running by all, well done!

Results here!

Bring on the league final!!

West Leinster Schools Cross Country 2016

Success is catching! Great running today from the lads in St Declans. Sean Donoghue continued his impressive form with yet another win in the minor boys race and and in a major surprise St Declans finished 2nd team helped with Seans win and a real stormer from Conor Murphy in 16th place. In the Inter boys race Daire Finn ran very smartly and and recorded another win for St Declans. Well done the lads! Chloe Corcoran was on the Junior winning team from Mount Sackville and Niamh and Annie from Colaiste Mhuire had their first taste of cross country and ran very well. Well done everyone. Onwards to the Leinsters!

Thanks to Ken Donoghue for the photos!

Our big girls were in action today at the National Intermediate cross country in a very mucky Dundalk IT today. The girls ran really well as a team with Niamh Donnelly 10th, Clare Brennan 22nd, Sinead Cronin 25th, Aislinn Moorehouse 26th and Aoife Ni Bhroin 39th. They finished 3rd team overall and this completes their cross country season for 2016. Well done girls!
