Cliona wins All Ireland Schools silver medal!

A big well done to Cliona Murphy on a great run in the senior girls 1500m at the Irish schools Championships in Tullamore on Saturday. Proudly representing St Dominics College Cabra for the last time Cliona found herself leading in a very slow pace for the first 600m but then she wound it up over the next 400m and gradually wore the field down to 3 potential medal winners. She fought very hard over the last lap to hang on for a well deserved silver medal. Irish Schools individual medals are hard work. Great run! Pierre ran in the boys senior 1500m and as any athlete will tell you some days its just not there no matter how much you want it and this was one of those days. Best of luck to both of them in the Leaving cert next week. Alison Armstrong ran really well in the senior steeplechase and despite running a very strong last 200m just missed out on a gold medal but on the day her silver was well deserved.

IN the minor girls Chloe Corcoran came a fine 4th in the 100m and later on in the day she had a great run in the relay where her Mount Sackville team won the gold medal.Well done to them. Muireann Mc Ginley was 4th in the senior polevault. That wraps up the schools programme for 2015.
