Dublin Championships Day 3

Well done to all the girls who competed in the Dublin Championships today!

Alison Burke added a brilliant silver medal to Friday’s gold when she finished a superb second in the U15 girls 60m sprint. Alison also finished a fine fourth in her first ever race over the hurdles.

Emily Corcoran did excellent to qualify for the final of the hurdles and finished fifth. Katie Harold won her heat of the 60m but came across much bigger girls in the semi final and didn’t progress to the final.

Chloe Corcoran and Sophie English both had unfortunate knee injuries. Chloe  could not compete and Sophie  got  to the final where she finished a brave  5th despite having a sore knee.  Well done to all.

National Seniors

Well done to Catherine McManus who got an excellent silver and big PB at the National Seniors today in a gusty run in the 60m hurdles after the disappointment of getting disqualified earlier in the 60m. Great running also by Niamh Donnelly with a massive PB of 4.41 and finishing 6th place! All the hard training paying off!

Dublin championships Day 2

Day 2 of the Dublins were held in surprisingly nice conditions for most of the competitions today. We had some fine performances from our older athletes with Pierre, Alison and Cliona adding the 800m titles to their 1500m titles won last night. Finn Burke Power showed what a great 800m runner he can be with a fine win in a new pb in the under 16 boys race with Darragh Finn third. Aoife Corr came 3rd in the under 17 girls event, while Katie Hanna, Caoimhe Bresnan, Ella Mae Cromie and Dora have all qualified for finals next Sunday. Abbey Corr won the under 15 walk.
Best of the younger age groups were Oisin Gavin, Keelan Gogarty and Alex Corr.

Any of the younger athletes who wish to train tomorrow, go to the hole in the Wall at 11.

Leinster schools cross country Santry 12th Feb

Nasty underfoot conditions were the dominant factor at the above event in Santry. First off for Celtic was Ella Mae Cromie who ran in the minor girls race. A combination of reduced training and missing out on the north Leinsters meant that she struggled a bit but still finished in the top 20. In the junior girls event we had athletes representing St Dominics College. The girls battled well through the mud and finished 5th team overall. Alison and Zoe were both suffering from heavy colds but along with Katie Hanna, Emily Corocran and Aoife Corr they gave it their best shot. Finn Burke Power ran well for the first lap but faded a little on the second in the junior boys race, Ben Quinn and Chris Clarke battled hard in the inter boys race. In the senior girls race Cliona Murphy led her team of Aoife Corr, Ellen Byrne and Laragh Hoey from St Dominics to third place overall and qualification for All Ireland schools in March. In the final race of the day Pierre had a great run in his first year as a senior when he finished 5th in a very high standard race. Well done to all.
