North Leinster schools
The North Leinster schools cross country were held in surprisingly nice conditions at the army barracks in Mullingar today. Club athletes were representing St Dominics College Cabra and supposed to be representing Mount Temple. In the junior girls event Alison Burke led her St Dominics team to 3rd place overall finishing in 9th place, Katie Hanna 12th, Zoe Couch 16th, Emily Corocran 25th and Abbey Corr 32nd. In the inter girls event Aoife Corr and Ellen Byrne were on the Dominics team which finished 4th just one point off qualifying for Leinsters. Hard luck girls. The star performer of the day was Cliona Murphy who looked very strong coming 2nd in the senior girls race and led her team to victory. Well done to all.
The only negative was the failure of Mount temple school to bring their athletes to the event which was such a pity because some more of our athletes would have surely qualified for the Leinsters.
