We got the sad news on Saturday of the death of Elsie Nagle, Dermots mother at the great age of 99. All the older athletes and parents will know the great work that Dermot does for our club athletes and we extend our sympathies to him and his family at this sad time. Her funeral mass will be at 10am on Tuesday morning in Aughrim St Church.

Indoor results from the weekend
At the National Junior and under 23s at the weekend we had mixed results. Catherine Mc Manus was our medal winner coming 2nd in the hurdles under 23 and 4th in a very competitive 60m sprint final. Pierre Murchan ran well in the junior 1500m and finished 6th in a time of 4.16.17 just four days after winning the West Leinster schools cross country. Alison Armstrong and Cliona Murphy missed their better event the 1500m and ran in the 800m with both of them running close to their best times. At the Welsh Indoor games Steffi Creaner had a very good run to win the 200m and came 5th in the final of the 60m. Well done to all.

West Leinster schools cross country-Boys report
At the West Leinster in the Phoenix Park we had 2 fine winners in the boys races with Finn Burke Power and Pierre Murchan both running very impressively, with Finn winning the junior race and Pierre the senior. . Ben Quinn came 9th in his first race after a long lay off with injury in a very solid run in the inter boys race, Christopher Clarke came 15th which was a good result for him. Annraoi finished 35th in the inter race. We also had Michael Hanley, Danny Byrne Crowley and Evan in action and they all ran well. Well done and best wishes to the qualifers for the Leinsters in 2 weeks time.
Robyn Sykes Award
A big well done to Alison Armstrong who has been selected to receive the Robyn Sykes award for outstanding performance in 2013 by Athletics Ireland. This award is being made to Alison based on her outstanding performance at the Celtic International in August where she won the steeplechase for under 18 girls. The race had to be run twice on the day as they ran a lap short the first time and a re run was decided on by the track referee. This didnt faze Alison and she won both races.
The awards night will be Sat 8th Feb in the Tullamore Court hotel.
