The final night of the NIA live indoor series took place on Tues night last. We had a few of our older athletes in action getting their last race of the current indoor season. Performance of the night was the great run by Pierre in the 1500m where he was an impressive winner in a seasons best of just over 3mins 55 secs. Jody McCann was equally impressive winning the 800m. Caoimhe ran an indoor PB in the 400m. Catherine was 2nd in the 60m, Alison was 3rd and Alison also finished 2nd in the 200m.. nice relaxing evening meet to finish off on.

Day 4 Dublin indoors

HiAnother early start on Sunday morning for our sprinters with a 10am start for the heats of the 200m races. Antonia and Aontoinette qualifed well for the final. Sam and Ian just missed out on making their finals. Chloe had a straight final and ran well finishing 2nd. In the afternoon Aontoinette ran a brilliant race coming 3rd winning in the final her first Dublin individual medal, Antonia ran a stormer from lane 1 to get up to 4th.

The middle distance races followed with countless heats. Our younger and new athletes got great experience on the day. Newcomers Erin, Jocelyn and Goda showed great courage winning their heats and making the final of the under 12 600m on their first outing for the club. Oisin made a big step up making the final of the 800m under 14. Our old reliables in the older age groups were impressive with Gillian completing a double gold adding 800m gold to her 1500 gold the previous day. Aoibh Collins collected her first Dublin medal coming a fine 2nd in her 800 and Sara Byrne had a great run also making the podium in her 800m. Clare o Connor, Kacey, Jana and Keelin all ran great making the final under 16 800m with collecting her 2nd medal of the weekend.
Emily Corcoran won the high jump under 19. Niamh o Connor made the top 8 in the long jump under 14.
Well done to everyone. A long and busy weekend. Thanks to all the parents who supported. The young athletes gained valuable experience and this will help them as they progress in the sport. Champions are not made overnight. It takes a lot of patience, thick skin and hard work!!
