Inter Varsity Championships

We had a mixed bag of results at the Intervarsity track and Field championships in Cork at the weekend. Catherine Mc Manus was well in the lead in her hurdles race when she got too close to hurdle 9 and crashed into it and was luck to escape with a huge bump and lots of aches and pains. However it didnt stop her going on to win her heat of the 100m and 200m later in the day. Muireann Mc Ginley cleared a pb coming 3rd in the pole vault but landed awkwardly and did ligament damage to her ankle. Also on Friday Cliona Murphy had her best 1500m race in a long time finishing 5th in a very strong field. On Saturday Catherine suffered the full brunt of her fall on Friday but still managed two silver medals in the 100 and 200. Well done to all and best wishes to Muireann on her recovery.
