Clonliffe Sports

We had a busy little group in action at the Clonliffe Harriers open sports in Santry yesterday. Great running from Lily Farrell, Antonia and Antoniette, Clare Murphy, Dora, Gabriella, Sean Donoghue, Sara Byrne, Chloe Corcoran and Emily Murphy. Great to see those who train regularly coming through at the races.

Next Saturday in Santry we will have league 4 for our younger athletes.This will be the last in the series and the programme will be on the website in the next day or so.

Four Leinster schools medals won today!

Day 2 of the Leinster schools was held in a sunny but breezy Santry today. The club got off to a good start with Alison Burke winning her first Leinster schools medal by coming a fine 3rd in the inter 300m hurdles.Our star performer of the day was Daire Finn who had a busy afternoon winning silver medals in both the 800m and 1500m inter boys races. This was a very tough double and was a great result for Daire. Emily Corcoran just missed out on equalling her indoor pb in the high jump with a narrow miss at 1m 64cm but she won a silver medal with 1m 61cm and has another year in the inter age group. Muireann Mc Ginley was third in the senior pole vault and Caoimhe Lynam was 5th in the 300m in a very fast 42.69. Also competing today were St Dominics Relay team with Emily and Alison on the team, Caoimhe was on the CCC relay team and Sara Jane was in the inter 1500m. Well done to everyone.

In Waterford at the Tón Le Gaoithe competition, Catherine McManus finished 3rd in the 100m with a seasons best of 11.93 in the Ton Na Gaoithe sprint meeting and she also ran her second fastest 200m ever at the same meeting. Steffi Creaner finished 5th in her 200m race knocking another chunk off her seasons best.

Busy times! Lots of races. All our younger athletes should be heading to Santry tomorrow for Clonliffe open sports. Starts at 1.30. Be there for 1. Bring your 3 euro and dont forget to bring a drink!

Clonliffe Juvenile open sports

On Sunday next in Santry starting at 1.30 Clonliffe are hosting an open sports for all our younger athletes. events as follows

under 10 60m and 500m, long jump
under 12 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, long jump, shot

under 14 100, 200 , 800, 1500, long jump, shot
under 16 100, 200, 800m, 1500m, long jump, shot

This will be short fast programme, under 9 move up to under 10 and so on. Entry fee is 3 euro the same as the leagues for our athletes. Clonliffe charging 5 euro but the club will pay the 2 euro difference for each of our athletes.We expect everyone who can to take part on Sunday

League 4 will take place in Santry on the following Sat 21st May. Programme not availablke yet.

Sean wins Leinster schools track title!

Sean Donoghue was our star performer at Day 1 of the Leinster schools on Wednesday when he ran away from the opposition to impressively win the minor boys 1100m race. Chloe Corcoran came 3rd in the junior girls 100m and was on the Mt Sackville team which won the junior relay. Alison Armstrong came a fine 2nd in the senior girls steeplechase. Alison Burke came 5th in the inter girls hurdles. Dora, Clare and Anna were all under the weather but will have better days.

This Saturday Day 2 will be held in Santry.

League 3 in Tallaght

Summer finally arrived for our competition in Tallaght today. We had a good turnout of athletes and some very good performances. Our standout performers were Chloe Corcoran (under 16 400m and high jump), Sean Donoghue ( 1500m under 15) , Kacey Tully (600m under 13), Emily Corcoran (high jump under 16), Conor Murphy (600m under 14), LIly Farrell (500m under 10). Emily Murphy (1500 under 16). Aoife Evans (600m under 11) and Claire O’Connor. Well done to all.
