Rock N Roll Half Marathon

This Monday the half marathon will take place starting in the city center. We have been asked to look after the 2 water stations in the Park. Unfortunately its a very early start and we have to be in place around 7am to set up. Waterstation number 1 will be at the entrance to the Zoo car park on the the main road and you can park cars at the zoo car park.
Number 2 waterstation will be on the city side of Mountjoy roundabout on the main road. Ashtown Gate will be open so drivers should go in Ashtown gate, go to the roundabout and park on main road going towards Castleknock gate.

We know its a bank holiday and its a big ask but try and bring some friends or neighbours with you. You might lose them after but run the risk anyway!

National Seniors 2013

A big well done to Catherine McManus and Niamh Donnelly who competed at the National Seniors in Santry on Sunday.

Niamh placed 12th in the 1500m in a time of 4:55.52 in very wet conditions after only running a great personal best on Wednesday leading the race gun to tape in Tallaght.

Catherine placed 4th in a very tough 100m final in the lashing rain – just 0.02 seconds of 3rd place! So close, but a great end to the season for Catherine who struggled with injury for a number of months and managed to make a strong comeback!

Graded in Tallaght

A big well done to Niamh Donnelly who ran a great new personal best of 4mins 44.73 sec in the 1500m in Tallaght tonight taking almost 7 secs off her previous best. Niamhs run was all the more exceptional as she led from the gun and ran the whole race by herself. Alison Armstrong ran a very fine race in 4th place ducking under the 5min barrier which was great running as she has just come back from the Gaeltacht. Well done to both girls. Niamh will have her last race this season in the National seniors on Sunday and Alison will have another week to go until the Celtic Games in Wales on August 3rd.

Club News update

Dara Finn Cliona Murphy competed in the National 1500m races in Tullamore yeaterday. Darragh was a bit down on his best and found the pace a bit hot and Cliona ran a solid race finishing in 5mins 7 secs.

We got confirmation today that Alison Armstrong has been selected for the 1500m steeplechase at the Celtic international which will be held on the 3rd of August in Wales. Alison has really upped her game in her last few races and this chance to represent her country is well deserved. She follows in the illustrious footsteps of many of our older athletes who have run in the Celtics in their time and have continued on to greater things. Well done to Alison!

This weekend the National Senior championships will be held in Santry. We have been asked to get helpers to look after the baskets at the start of the races.Anyone over the age of 12 who is free Sat between 12.00 and 5, Sunday between 11 and 5 should text Mary to confirm their availability. We need about 20 people. This is a chance to see great athletics close up.

Training times for the next few weeks.

Most of our athletes are on break at the moment. Some took a break earlier for various reasons. Anyone born in 1999 or older who wants to get back into easy running should meet at the Hole in the Wall 10.30 Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and 11 on Sunday.
